Reviews from musicians

First and foremost, the Garage is a restaurant. People go there to eat and talk with their friends, not to listen to music. At this venue, a live band is kind of like the uniforms the staff wear; it's part of the atmosphere of the place, but people generally don't make an effort to pay attention to it.
We were hired based upon a CD of original music. But after playing our tunes for an hour, the booking guy said, "You're giving my staff a headache. Play standards."
So, it's high profile gig. Lots of people will see you. But very few will actually hear you, and you will be expected to fall in line with the traditional jazz theme of the venue.
Also, be prepared to play for at least 3-4 hours, broken into 90 minute sets.
