It's difficult for me to figure this place out. On the good side, Fat Cat books great jazz groups and hosts a very popular jam session. This is where a lot of younger players come to prove themselves, so the energy is competitive. But they pay the musicians more than most of them would make playing similar music at other venues.

Now, the significantly bad part: aside from the musicians performing and others waiting to sit in, nobody comes here to listen to music. This huge basement spaces houses at least a dozen ping pong tables, another ten or so pool tables, board games and more. So, not only is nobody listening to you, but you have to compete with hundreds of ping pong and billiards balls, along with the talking and yelling that accompanies such events.

The last time I played here there were about 70 people in the space, but only a couple of people sat down to listen. Everyone else was playing ping pong, pool, or board games. You'll get paid, but no one will listen.
