I've played here five times in the last two years as a band leader and as a sideman. Total pay for all five gigs: $225 (TOTAL, not per member). 1 drink ticket per band member after 50 people come through the door. They are all ages but charge $5 for everyone under 21, even if they are on the guest list. No dressing room or green room. Generally very good sound, and it is a bigger room with very good touring acts, so local bands want to play here.
The last show with them we were main support for a touring indie folk band. We did all local flyering. We agreed to 50/30/20 split of a $15 cover after sound and door guy. Showed up for a 5 o'clock sound check for a 10 pm downbeat, but the sound is run through ProTools, which crashed sometime in the interim so the sound check was a waste of time. Room was half full (about 120 people) so we got our one drink. At the end of the evening had to wait nearly two hours to get paid. Our pay was a whopping $125. They charged $600 for "security and sound". There was one door guy. They also took out for 30 comps (where those went, I have no idea as we were giving one guest per band member for a duo, a trio and a four piece). They also charged each band $50 for meals. There is no backstage, there were no meals. I guess that they knew by making us wait till 2 am to get paid that we would be docile.
This was our experience. Yours may be completely different. But collectively between the three bands, none of us could think of another occassion of so blatantly being ripped off by a club.
