Haven't played there in a long time, but I remember liking the gig. Paid a guarantee, but they still expect you to bring in a crowd and if you get screwed by the rain and your fans stay home, you don't get back in. Really, if you have a following built up there's no point in playing a place like this. It's more of a service job, provide entertainment for THEIR crowd. So their attitude is ass-backwards in my opinion. On the bright side the pay was fair and I think we got some free drinks out of it or a discount.

The venue has a ridiculously overpriced menu. It's in a great location (parking notwithstanding) so the volume of tourists/visitors is impressive. They have great performances there and can really pack it in. However, be prepared for the standoffish vibe you'll get from the people in charge. They'll treat you like your some irresponsible teenager at their first job. You'll get a drink ticket AFTER the show (no drinking before or during). There is no backstage - they just have you hide away in a tiny office with hardly a place to sit down. The crowd that frequents this place is mostly the 1% looking to spend money and either ignore the performers or expect them to mimic what they're familiar with from TV. If you're gonna be a circus monkey in Pike Place Market, you're better off busking....oh but that requires paying THEM for the license. There is no sound guy either, it's a dry unbalanced mix the entire time. The venue does have an out of tune piano and the tiniest of stages but you can fit drums, guitar, bass, vocal - tightly. In short, the owner has no idea how to treat performers with respect, nor does the manager. The staff runs around like they're on an episode of kitchen nightmares so there's a vibe of constant fear & micromanaging that will impose itself on your performance no matter how hard you try to tune it out and work around it as best you can. The talent that comes through is good but they'd be wise to book elsewhere (some pianists are at the mercy of the few places that have pianos - which tend to be jazz only) - The venue not only doesn't promote you, they won't LET you promote yourself! You're not allowed to mention your websites or have a business card or program included in the bill folders at people's tables. They won't even let you have a guest list. Incredibly overbearing, horrible place. Book at your own risk.
