They get 2 starts for at least allowing live music, but it is an afterthought, it is first and foremost a very hardcore sports/drinking bar.
Bands work for a percentage of the bar sales (20% I have heard) while the music is being played, and so your payout will vary to be as low as $25.00 per person for a 3 set gig. The sounds system is terrible and very rudimentary, but there is something there. Jazz groups make about $15.00 each per gig.
They will book anything - blues, rock, covers, originals, solo, jazz - they don't care because it is not going to cost them anything. It is a place to play, so if you can drag folks who drink a lot in there that don't mind a bad sound system and standing in between 10 giant screen TV's all showing hockey or football while they listen, some money might be possible.

Stupid Canadian Hockey bar. ten million TVs blaring all the time and drunks watching hockey. Band has to wait until everyone is done watching f***in' hockey to play, regardless of when the agreed start time is. Pays a %of till from when band starts. Small, crappy stage. Marginal PA. No respect for musicians.
