An excellent venue to be seen by some of the city's most influential figures in the music scene, the Abilene Bar and Lounge provides an intimate, up-close-and-personal bar setting for both the established Rochester act and traveling group.

The bar's owner and operator, Danny Deutsch, has worked hard to make this a destination point for most music genres and styles, with an emphasis on Americana acts. Since my group has been performing there, he's made great additions to his sound equipment and performance areas.

This is a small bar, and like most live-music venues, is always striving to find ways to stay profitable without sacrificing the creative and artistic vibe its created. Since it's a small bar, don't expect a large guaranty. The hospitality has changed significantly since the bar first opened...undoubtedly caused by some thankless acts that ruined a good thing. But drink tokens and a small guaranty are the minimum you'll receive.

In return, I've always found Danny to be very fair and willing to take care of those who take care of him. He's always very thankful and pays the guaranty willingly. Treat him well, and he treats you well.

Danny is part of a select few venue owners who seem to have grasped the concept of symbiotic existence between the venues and the bands that frequent them. Danny aggressively promotes all shows and acts, and expects you to do the same. Since it's a small bar, between 'regulars' and your fan base, there's typically no problem packing the place out.

Overall an excellent venue to play. Limitations are mainly based on size of venue, and therefore, your guaranty.
