This is a kind of fun punk rock dive. Staff is nice, crowd generally supportive. Bare bones stage and performance area, small capacity makes it feel more intimate than other venues in the same dive/rock club circuit. Separated from bar area by a curtain and patrons only pay to get beyond curtain to watch show, which makes it easy for customers to catch music without paying. On the flip side, there are plenty of people who hang out at the Know with or without the bands, and it almost never feels empty and pathetic. Definitely a punk rock basement vibe, equipment is minimal, though they usually do have someone competent to do sound. Pinball machines, crummy bathrooms, potentially nowhere to sit/hang out if it's busy, stiff drinks, tolerable sandwiches, band gets a percentage of paying customers at the door and something like 2 drink tickets each, but bartenders are generally cool to bands and room generally sounds ok. Good overall vibe, good place for louder bands. They do a little flyering/promotion, somewhat spotty. Overall I'd rather play or watch a show at The Know than a number of other places in town.
