I played an acoustic gig at this venue a while back, sharing the bill with another acoustic act and a jazz group.
The venue is separated into two rooms: a small room with a bar and a stage on the first floor (where we played) and a dance club upstairs.
The room we played wasn't bad for a small room, although the stage is oddly shaped and the acoustics aren't that lovely. There is a P.A. there, including an on-stage monitor, but the board is kept behind the bar, which is off to the side, thus making whoever is running sound (which we had to provide in order to avoid paying for one) gets to be in the bartender's way, and is not hearing the performance from an audience member's perspective.
The only other gripe I have was that while myself and the other acts were playing, there was loud music coming from upstairs that was noticeably interfering with the vibe downstairs. It simply doesn't work to have acoustic acts playing quietly while a loud party rages above. The rooms aren't soundproofed enough to allow that to work.
That being said, I feel the venue has potential and could easily remedy the problems. It's an intimate vibe that works well for smaller acts, and a re-working of the sound setup and creative scheduling of events in the two rooms could make something great out of Europa.
