Reviews from musicians

This is a large, multi-purpose building with a gym and community activities going on (art classes, etc). A gig here is exactly like what I imagine a gig at the YMCA would be like. There are some modest house amps (play it safe, bring your own). The money isn't worth mentioning. The only employee in sight runs the coffee counter, and he took it upon himself to offer me unsolicited advice in regard to how I should be releasing my recordings.
I have performed here at least four times, scattered over a period of five or six years. For the life of me, I can't figure out why they even bother with having live music, if for no other reason than they happen to be open anyway (for the gym and classes), so the level of investment on their part is minimal.
Do yourself a favor. Just rehearse at your practice space with your band.

I played here recently and was quite disappointed. Without knowing anything about the payment for the gig (it appeared to be a cover situation), I can say that the lighting was terrible, the sound was mediocre at best, and the venue was not very professional in handling the sound check, etc. We were basically brightly light with fluorescent lights in the middle of a giant gymnasium. I think you can pull a curtain across the space, which would have helped somewhat.
